First Saturday Each Month Wiltshire Farmers Market

On the first Saturday of the month it's the Wiltshire Farmers Market. It takes place in the Market Square, Devizes from 9am 'til 1pm with local artisan food, crafts and top quality goods available to purchase directly from the producers.

To 22 Apr 18 Exhibition: The Winds and Words of War

EXHIBITION: The Winds and Words of War. WWI Posters and Prints from the San Antonio Public Library Collection.

This evocative exhibition of First World War American propaganda posters is on a two year tour of Europe and will be in Devizes until the 22nd of April 2018. Wiltshire Museum here in Devizes is the only UK venue.

By 13 Apr DTC Annual Civic Awards

The Town Council would like to receive nominations for this year’s Civic Awards. Civic Awards are presented every year to people who deserve recognition for the hard work and effort they make to improve our community.
We are therefore asking if there is anyone you know who would qualify for nomination in any of the following categories:

There are four types of Awards:

  1. Environmental Award
    To be awarded to any individual, voluntary group, business/organisation who have made a recent improvement to the natural or built environment in Devizes (within the parish boundaries) eg. Improvement of open space, re-use of derelict land or refurbishment of buildings.

  2. Service to People
    To be awarded to any individual who has helped to improve the quality of life for people in Devizes.

  3. Community/Group
    To be awarded to a group who help their community or individuals in Devizes.

  4. Long Service Award (40 years service)
    To be awarded to individuals who have worked for the same Devizes Company for 40 years or more.

The Civic Awards presentation takes place after the Annual Town’s meeting on Thursday 19th April 2018. Tue 6 Feb Ladies Evening Group

At St Andrew's Church Hall on Tuesday the 6th of February, there will be a talk and presentation by Fiz Mangham on Julia's House Children's Hospice. The Ladies Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 7.30 p.m. and welcome all ladies to come and join in. There's no membership fee, just a small sub for each meeting, so come along if you see a topic of interest.

Sat 10 Feb Lavington Guides Cake Sale

1st West Lavington Guides are holding a cake and produce sale to raise money for club funds. They will be selling home made cakes and goodies from 8.45 'til - 11.30 am, outside the Co-op in Market Lavington High Street, on Saturday the 10th of February.

The Mobile Museum is bringing a collection of fossils to Melksham Library so you can find out what Wiltshire looked like millions of years ago. Learn how fossils are made and what they tell us about evolution. Apart from one or two very fragile fossils, you will be able to handle them, and if you have your own fossils and rocks, help will be on hand to identify them.

This session is aimed at younger children. It is free to attend and there is no need to book. Just drop in between 11am and 1pm on Saturday the 10th of February at the Melksham Library. A fun activity and learning experience for children and adults.

16-17 Feb Bouncers

The Wharf Theatre presents John Godber's hilarious comedy 'Bouncers' on Friday the 16th and Saturday the 17th of February. It's a 1980s nightclub, bouncers played by girls, stag nights and hen dos. Tickets are £12.

Good fun at The Cross Keys in Rowde on Saturday the 17th of February.

Come down at meet a local amateur racing team "Team Lick" who race in the British Super Bike Championship as a side car team. Meet the team, see the outfits, and take part in your chance to win a weekend at any BSB racing weekends as Team Lick special guest with paddock passes and hospitality, including free camping for two people!

Sat 17 Feb Battle Of The Bands

On Saturday the 17th of February, the R&B Bar at The Sports Club in Devizes will host the Saddleback Acoustic Acts 'Battle Of The Bands'. Free entry, doors open at 8pm, and the acts taking part will be Tom & Clair, Jamie R Hawkins, Tamsin Quinn, Kirsty Clinch, Jack Moore, George Wilding and Sally Dobson.

23-24 Feb Festival of Winter Ales

The Festival of Winter Ales is a fundraising event for DOCA. Held in collaboration with the Kennet & Avon Brewery, come and try a wide selection of beers, ales and the odd cider from some of the UK’s best independent breweries. 

Tickets are £10, and are available for each of the three sessions:

Friday 23rd February 2018, 4pm – 11pm
Saturday 24th November 2018, 11am – 5pm OR 5.30pm – 11pm

DOCA-style entertainment will be provided by the legendary Rod Laver, who will be performing his vaudevillian ping pong mouth juggling act during all three sessions.

There will be a great selection of bands performing too – Friday will see the foot stomping The Drystones and the relaxed style of Eddie Witcomb taking to the stage, and on Saturday, Sunjay will provide a folk/bluesy feel to the afternoon session, while the immensely talented Rob Lear will play through the evening.

The Devizes Scooter Club presents DJ Terry Hendrick, playing rare and classic Northern Soul on Saturday the 24th of February at the Devizes Conservative Club. Tickets are £7 in advance, £8 on the door from the club or the Devizes Scooter Club Facebook page. Doors open at 7.30pm.

The Ultimate Garth Brooks Experience comes to Bromham on Saturday the 24th of February. Fri 2 Mar Quiz Night

Calling all you quiz enthusiasts! Potterne Cricket Club presents a Charity Quiz Night on Friday the 2nd of March. It's all in aid of Julia's House, Dorothy House and Canon's House.

It's £20 for teams of four, to include a filled roll. Winners will receive the annual Potterne Cricket Club Quiz Trophy, individual trophies and a selection of wine.

Sat 3 Mar Charity Dinner Dance

Saturday the 3rd of March sees the Mayor's Charity Dinner Dance at the Town Hall. Doors open at 7pm wuth a glass of Pimms or Prosecco on arrival, enjoy a three-course dinner and dance to the E.L. Jazz Band!

Tivkets are £35 per person for tables of up to 10. There will be a licensed bar, and proceeds go to Alzheimer's Support, SSAFA and Wiltshire Mind. Dress code is blazers & boaters, cocktail dresses, black tie.

9-17 Mar Goodnight Mister Tom

Michelle Magorian's delightful novel for children about the experiences of a young boy evacuated to the country during World War Two has been through a number of incarnations. Most notably the TV film starring John Thaw, but the stage version by David Wood now comes to The Wharf Theatre.

Tickers are £12 from the box office and it runs from Friday the 9th to Saturday the 17th of March at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm Matinee on Saturday the 10th.

Sat 24 Mar Jumble Sale

There's set to be a jumble sale on Saturday the 24th of March with clothes, children's toys, household items, bric a brac and more. It takes place over in Worton in the village hall from 2 'til 4pm, with all proceeds going towards village hall funds.
